"Sure, I'm a spiritual person... I'm just not into organized religion." Sound familiar? This way of thinking is prevalent in the broader world of media and culture, but it is not limited to the so-called "secular" realm. More and more people within the Church are expressing similar sentiments.

The following excerpt from a relatively unknown Christian song sums up how many people (both Christian and non-Christian) feel when it comes to "the Church as we know it."

Jesus I love you
But I don't understand your wife
She wears such funny make up
And she always wants to fight
Every time I turn my back
She's waiting with a knife
In a world of black and gray
She argues shades of white

If you find yourself in the same shoes, wondering about apparent hypocrisy, irrelevance, and "holier than thou" attitudes in the church, then this study is for you. Not only will we explore God's intention for the Church but we also want to take an honest look at the churches that exist today, seeing how cultural forces have formed (and deformed) them into their current shape and learning to embrace the diversity and humanness that make up a part of who we are as the body of Christ.
